Blogging Experiment: The Results!

A: The results are in, D!

D: And the doctors have decided that commitment is the best option for you, I presume.

A: Not those kind of results, D. Seán Cooke posted the results of the mystery blogging experiment he conducted.

D: Wonderful. I still think they’re going to commit you.

A: If they do, they’ll probably give me drugs to make you go away.

D: But I never will; you underestimate my resolve.

A: No, I don’t, D; that’s why we’re here. Enjoy the results of the mystery blogging experiment, everyone – and many thanks to Seán for corralling us all together and conducting it!

  1. Very interesting. Blogging is such a no-attention-span format. I try to pay attention and be supportive of a good number of blogs.

I’m over the three year mark with my blog, and I know a whole crew of bloggers who have been at it for around that much time. When Google changed its algorithms last fall, several of them almost quit. That’s the hardest thing about blogging for me: I build momentum and build momentum and build momentum. I play by the rules as they are set out. Then, they change the rules. Momentum stalls.

    • I had a response to this, and then my computer decided it was too warm outside, and turned itself off. Computer Gremlins are the worst. But it sounds like the changes in rules and stalling momentum is pretty frustrating too.

I think I’m one of those that is going to have problems at the 7-10 month mark, not because I don’t appreciate the momentum I’ve gained – (actually pretty happy right now with what I have) – but because I know life will intrude.

Just out of curiosity – and because up until 2 months ago, the only blogs I knew about were paleo food blogs – what was it about the change that compelled so many to drop out?

  2. Interesting experiment. Interesting statistics as well. I would have loved to see a larger sampling, but 50 people seems okay for an experiment of this size. How difficult is it to find a Wizard Pig? 😉

    • It was actually a little trickier than I thought it would be – no search function! But at the same time, I was new to Sean’s blog, so it was a good way to hunt through his posts.

  3. Hey. I got the right pig. I told Sean I was sorry but that was the only one I could find. Boy am I a whimp. I should have just force fed the fact that that was the only pig dressed like a wizard and demanded an inclusion. Nice reblog

    • Thanks, John. I was really excited I had the right pig too. I think that was the hardest I looked for a pig dressed as a wizard in my life… actually, it was the only time I’ve ever looked for a wizard pig! 🙂
